Guiseppe Zanotti + Anja Rubik Cutout Suede Pumps

I’ve been a little shoe-obsessed for the past few months as I’m sure readers of our blog can tell! But these get my endorsement for best pumps of 2013. Even better, they’re currently on-sale at Net-a-Porter as one of the site’s biggest bargains with around $500 off.

Anja Rubik’s five piece capsule collection for Zannotti was inspired by her favorite musicians, David Bowie and Debbie Harry. The shoes feature only black leather and suede fabrics, stiletto heels, and gold metal detailing. These shoes may be simple but they have a wide appeal and can be paired with anything from an LBD to a YSL tuxedo!

Erykah Badu: The New Face of Givenchy’s Spring 2014 Campaign

Ricardo Tisci, the man credited with ‘discovering’ Joan Smalls and others, has decided to appoint critically-acclaimed musician Erykah Badu as the new face of his latest campaign which boasts African and Japanese influences. The new campaign will only feature women of color, and is a bold and much needed step from such a prominent figure in the fashion industry.

The 'Spoof' Tee

Seeing as I own 4, I thought it would make sense to write up a post on the notorious spoof tee. Everyone from celebrities to children are wearing these cool, edgy and extremely witty tops which play on the name of designer brands. Here are a list of some of my favourites which are also pictured.

  1. Commes des f*ck down on asos.com

  2. Homies tee by Reason

  3. Gimmy more Choos tee on Meek ‘n’ Mild by Shirley Eniang

  4. Feline tee on The Blonde Salad by Chiara Ferragni

  5. Praduh tee on The Fashionably Forward Foodie

  6. WHYsl tee on Isabella Thordsen

Beyoncé's New Visual Album

Christmas came early with Beyonce’s surprise release of her fifth and latest album. 30 second video teasers for the tracks are available via her VEVO channel. However, my absolute favorite has to be Yoncé featuring Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman, and Joan Smalls. Goodbye Sasha Fierce, hello high fashion Yoncé.

Beyoncé sports many different looks in her video and is on point as usual. The fact that she’s already filmed 17 videos to accompany each track is an amazing feat in itself coupled with the fact that her album hit #1 in 72 countries within the first day. Great collaborations on her self-titled album range from Drake to Frank Ocean to Jay Z, of course, and even Blue Ivy!

It’s safe to say Queen Bey is killing the game. Without any promotion, single releases, album covers, she avoided the possibility of an album leak and gave her fans something they could never have expected. I’ve already bought this album (of course) and you better too unless you want to experience a serious case of FOMO!

Aquazzura Sloane Cutout Suede Sandals

Grey Suede

Red Suede

Black Suede

While looking for the perfect shoes to wear to a white party, I came across these. They’ve been spotted on the feet of many including Olivia Palermo and have become one of the season’s must have sandals.

They pop in every color and accentuate every outfit. Their suede upper adds some extra texture and intrigue to these shoes as does their unique cutout and lace-up design. Essentially, these shoes are the perfect balance of simplicity and complexity. Hopefully soon to be on the feet of yours truly…

Givenchy Skate Shoes

Recently released, these shoes are a stylish alternative to your classic Converse while remaining very comfortable and wearable. There’s a different style to suit everyone - from lace to leather embossed with graphic black diamond studs to traditional Givenchy scarf prints. These shoes elevate any outfit and are an essential wardrobe item.

I can’t wait to invest in a pair (probably the black leather ones because lets face it - you can never have enough leather!)

Pharrell Williams - Happy

Link: Pharrell Williams - Happy

Today Pharrell released his new track in the form of a 24 hour video. His new song ‘Happy’, is a 4 minute long track repeated over a 24 hour video which you can change by scrolling through the hours. It features normal people and a line up of celebrities including, Kelly Osbourne, Miranda Cosgrove, Sergio Mendes, Magic Johnson, Jimmy Kimmel, Tyler the Creator and Steve Carell.

I love the concept of this ‘video’ and after spending most of the day watching it, I can certainly say it makes me happy. Not only are you able to see how much fun everyone in the video is having, but also looking at Pharrell’s ability to implement a creative new visual idea, quickly puts a smile on my face. My favourite bit in the video (if you can be bothered to find it) is Jamie Foxx jamming out with his 2 daughters which is so adorable. So once again, thank you to the never ageing Pharrell Williams.

Let's Talk About The Split Stunt

The New viral video titled ‘The Epic Split Stunt feat. Jean-Claude Van Damme’ has received over 34.5 million views in just a week after its release via the Volvo youtube channel.

When I first saw this video on my Facebook Newsfeed, I wouldn’t have guessed it was a vehicle advert. Still, I clicked and I watched and have come to the conclusion that it is awesome. Not only was this crazy stunt filmed in just one take, but also the precision in getting the scene right at perfect lighting from the sunset in the background. Only few things come to mind after watching the video: 1. I wish I could do the splits 2. I suddenly want to drive a truck…

For those wanting to know the song, it’s called 'Only Time' by Enya

The Deep-V Neckline

I’ve always been a fan of the ‘Deep-V’ and I was beyond happy to see the Spring/Summer runways brimming with these designs. More and more brands, celebrities and even us ordinary folk have decided to brave this look recently and the results typically pay off. Despite their revealing nature, the Deep-V is able to accentuate a woman’s physique while keeping things under wraps and keeping people guessing.

Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2013

As usual, last night’s annual VS Fashion Show did not disappoint. Despite my shock at hearing the words Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, and Victoria’s Secret mentioned in the same sentence, all three meshed pretty smoothly on the night. The show’s fun and flirty vibe was contagious, ensuring that while every girl wanted to be an Angel, every guy just wanted one.

Ignoring Taylor Swift’s attempts to outshine the Angels and Miranda Kerr’s absence, the costumes were as impeccable as ever and the models’ individual personalities shone through. The white diamond cutout sandals sported by some of the Angels, as seen on Candice Swanepoel above, were a personal favorite as were the notoriously elaborate angel wings.

Star Signs at Valentino

For me, the Valentino 2014 Spring/Summer runway was the debut of the new Zodiac necklaces. These necklaces come in all 12 zodiac signs and add a bold yet subtle touch to any outfit.

As a huge fan of fashion gold chains and ID necklace chokers, such as those popularized by Celine, I feel like this spin on this type of necklace is a refreshing and more feminine change of pace.

Royals

Not long ago, I heard Royals on my radio while listening to BBC Radio 1.

I immediately went on Youtube and listened to it over and over again until I eventually had to leave. Ella Yelich-O’Conner aka. Lorde is a New Zealand born singer. Her first EP was released late 2012 and Royals has reached number 1 on the New Zealand charts. Since discovering her, I’ve listened to some of her other songs and so far my favourites are Royals and Bravado. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Classic Louboutins

Christian Louboutin: “The shoes are there to give the woman an extra lift, not to take attention away from the legs and what she is wearing. They disappear like magic and become a fluid extension of her legs, as in a sketch, elongating the silhouette.”

This capsule collection has been a long time coming. It’s been beyond refreshing to see a designer accommodate all female skin tones in one simple collection and consider the needs of women in such an in-depth and accurate manner.

These shoes are exactly what every woman needs in her closet and will undoubtedly become the ‘go-to heel’. Their classic design makes them extremely wearable and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on these.

Justin Timberlake Performs "T.K.O."

Link: Justin Timberlake Performs "T.K.O."

I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve had a slight JT obsession since around the age of 9 and it’s yet to subside especially after seeing him perform his new album, The 20/20 Experience Part 1 in London this summer.

However, the release of Part 2 of this album outdoes Part 1. With classic slow songs like Amnesia to the catchy Justin-style tracks we all know and love like TKO and Murder, Justin is once again at his very best.

Listen and enjoy!

Sunda, Chicago

Last week I went to Sunda Restaurant in Chicago’s West Loop and I was more than impressed! I had heard good things about Sunda but it exceeded my expectations.

The cuisine is high-end Asian with everything from sushi to rock shrimp tempura (pictured) to oxtail potstickers being served at this location. The service is impeccable as is the ambience. I highly recommend trying this place out for those of you who ever stop by Chicago!

Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2014

I’ve been desperately searching for the perfect black, deep V-neck jumpsuit so when I saw the line up for the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2014 show, I was enamored. Black silhouette, clean lines and a touch of metallic. The impeccable tailoring and choice of accessories exemplifies how simple is best.

Everything creative director Hedi Slimane touches turns to gold and this is no exception.
